WHY OIL CHOPPING BOARDS ?
Hard wood chopping board care
Oiling prevents cracking and warping. Oiling not just make it lustrous but also helps increase life of the wooden chopping board.A conditioned board does not absorb moisture and odors from food.Oiling the chopping board also help protect against bacteria.Vegetable oils do moisturise the board but they mix with the food odors and gives a strange smell from the wooden chopping boards.We recommend food grade mineral oil only as it colorless and odorless and does not turn rancid unlike vegetable oils.
Steps to oil a wooden chopping board Rinse thoroughly with normal temperature water and let it air dry. Apply food grade mineral oil on the entire surface of the board using a lint free cloth or a brush. Leave the oiled wooden chopping board in a standing position overnight. You can oil your cutting boards once a month or when it starts looking dull and dry. In case mild soap is used for cleaning, oil the chop board immediately after drying.
